How can I increase my muscle mass (somewhat) after 40 ? I workout seriously on a regular basis.?

27 Dec

But I am from India. So please give me some tips / advice which would be suitable in an Indian context. I am 39 + now. I also do regular Yoga. I exercise at home. Should I hit the Gym sometimes ?

Weight workout with as much weight as you can handle. Start off light, but build up more weight. Muscles only get teased when the weight is low. Or try some resistance training.

yes, doing yoga wont help gain muscle mass. it helps tone but not gain, lift weights regularly (3 times a week) and eat lots of meat and protein, not beef obviously though so chicken, eggs and seafood

Yes, I feel it would help you immensely to hit the gym. Weight lifting would be great to increase muscle mass, as well as weight loss, even if it is only 5 or 10 pounds.

The more you use your muscles, the more muscle mass you will develop.

    Jogging is great as well.

    Any exercise will help!

    Good luck to you!

resistance/and or weight training, whether at a gym or at a home gym or even with cans of food, will build muscles. what you want to strive for is not so much heavy weights, but many repitions with lighter weights,,,, i said cans of food, as there are many exercises for your arms that you can do holding those, to add weight and work your muscles more,,,,,,but basically any exercise done often and long enough, should build you up,,,,,
