Practical Quit Smoking Tips For Any Smoker

Every New Year smokers vow to end their smoking habit.  Each year more than half are not able to fulfill their commitment.  If you are one of these people and are planning to pledge to quit smoking again this year you may be in need of a few smoking quit tips. 

Number one on the quit smoking tips agenda would be to see your physician.  Let him give you a complete check-up.  After three to six months of successfully fulfilling your commitment to quit smoking, take another trip to your physician’s office and compare your latest test results to your previous one.  You probably already feel better but you will see actual results with the doctor’s tests.  These improvements will enable you to stay focused on your goal.

Make a plan.  Will your tactic be to quit “cold turkey” or to cut down to one or two cigarettes a week?  Hard evidence has proven that smokers who stop “cold turkey” are more successful.  Your physician may also be able to offer you some quit smoking tips and possibly a prescription for a nicotine alternative.  Be prepared for the various side affects that some of these medications can cause.

Make a dental appointment.  See that they clean and buff your ivories.  Dental visits are not cheap which should give you the incentive to prevent future nicotine stains on your teeth.  Fresh breath is another bonus that comes with not smoking.

On the list of smoking quit tips is to be aware of the inevitable side effects that come with nicotine deprivation.  Feelings of depression and moodiness are not unusual and are actually quite normal.  These feelings are easier to handle if you know why you are experiencing them. Friends and family are happy that you are quitting and will be understandable of any mood swings.

Get a comrad to join you in quitting so that you can be subject to each other. This is one venture that requires moral encouragement

Itemize the good and bad that comes with kicking the habit. There will most definately be more on the positive list. At the top of the list should be for health reasons and the money you will save. The price of cigarettes seems to go up everyday. If you have children put them on your list of reasons to quit.  The example you set for them is unquestionably important.  Tack this chart where you can see it each day.  Seeing all the good written out in black and white will motivate you to stay on track.

The fact that you are reading this article is evidence that you have a desire to quit.  If you are aware of these few quit smoking tips there is no reason you shouldn’t start immediately.  Allow your body to regenerate by ending the harmful flow of nicotine into your system.
